Joined the team of 2020 National Geographic Explorer ‒ Syeda Amna Hassan to work as Photographer for two early‒career research grant projects by National Geographic Society
- The Human Cost of Glacial Overflow in Northern Pakistan
- The Impact of COVID-19 on Hunting & Poaching of Endangered Species in Pakistan
My contribution was to:
- Record drone footage of areas not accessible on foot for both the glaciers and endangered animals like Snow Leopard, Himalayan Brown Bear, Ibex, Markhor at temperatures ranging from +43°C in Sindh to ‒16°C in Gilgit.
- Record interviews of local communities & stakeholder organizations for both poaching and GLOF (Glacial Lake Outburst Flood) events
My Story of 8 Years with
Drones
What started off as a passion to build my own drone back in 2017, turned in to a drone photography career that took me through a roller‒coaster ride of learning everything from scratch with ZERO hands‒on experience. Not to forget the constant headache of getting the drone confiscated because the LEAs always consider drones as weapons rather than a billion dollar creative tech industry.
So I converted my pain to my vision; introduced PAKISTAN's FIRST ever hands‒on workshops offering participants the opportunity to learn about drone technology & the role of aerial imagery in areas like Security, Robotics, Climate Change, Construction etc.
My primary focus with these workshops is to promote #dronesforgood in Pakistan and initiate UAV licensing so enthusiasts, specifically women & youngsters consider "Licensed Drone Pilot" as career path.
